chayn's last blogging entry:))

Last Tuesday, was supposedly the deadline for our Sentence Outline and Note cards. And luckily, Ma’am Lynnie extends it until this week, which is on Tuesday (March 2, 2010). Thank You Ma’am Lynnie! I felt really happy because I haven't checked my note cards if they fit with the outline I already made. At least I still have two days to check, since I'll have consultation on Monday, scheduled from 1:00-1:15 in the afternoon. After my Jeep class, I’ll be going directly to Ma’am Lynnie’s office.

Aside from the extensions of deadline and announcement of consultation hours, Ma’am Lynnie also announced that this will be our last blogging entry. My first blog was on November 17, 2009. I’ve been writing this blog for over three months and it felt great because my grammar and sentence construction are improving…unlike before. It is time for me to live life away from the blogging, to focus on writing my term paper. I cannot imagine I will stop writing, but this is a chapter that needs to end. .I will continue to write maybe in the future, but for now it’s time to say Goodbye. I will miss this-blogging, students who visited my blogging site…but it is time. To everyone, the readers, commenter’s, and to Professor Lynnie DeOcampo…Thank you so much.:)) This will be my last blog entry…for now!

God Bless to all of you! ^^

Tough week:)

Last Tuesday, Ma'am Lynnie announced that she was going to postpone our note-taking and the deadline for our outline to next week. She discussed about the how to write and the right indention of our note cards. After that, she also talked about quoting and paraphrasing in the note cards. Ma’am Lynnie also announced that we had to submit our draft by next Friday. Oh my! How can I do that by one week? Hopefully, I can finish writing my draft before Friday. In addition to our deadlines, we also have a term paper to finish in Filipino and a panel discussion in English 3 for our midterm. It will be a tough week this week!:)) Good luck to me.:))

Last Thursday, Ma'am Lynnie was not around because she was going to a convention at Cagayan de Oro City. But, she had already assigned pair activities for us to do today. Sheldon and I had an assignment about paraphrasing and outlining. In addition to our deadlines, we also have a term paper to finish in Filipino.

Activities to remember :)

This week, we were assigned a topic and tasked to formulate a specific topic, specific claim and thesis statement. Ma'am Lynnie gave few corrections on our thesis statement. The next meeting, our next activity was to make an outline of the topic were assigned. And we were also tasked to comment on another group's sentence outline of their assigned topic. My group, which is group 3, was to comment to the work of group 2 and group 4 will give comments on our outline. We had an impromptu outline and we were all cramming to come up with a suitable sentences for our outline. It is difficult to come up with a good outline when you're not thinking critically and honestly, we really had a hard time on that.

This activity gave me a lesson-that life is easier to handle when you THINK CRITICALLY!:))

God bless everyone! HAPPY HEART'S DAY! LET'S LOVE-LOVE-LOVE:))

Writing in an APA format

This week Ma’am Lynnie gave us a 6th edition of the APA system. We were given a couple of minutes to read through its contents and to familiarize it. Ma'am gave us 2 sets with each set having 4 different books and internet sources, where representative from each group would copy all the details given in the sources. After collecting all the necessary information, the group would give its APA format and write it in a manila paper for five minutes. It was fun and a nerve-racking experience because it was under time pressure. The funniest part was seeing my group mates panic in posting the manila paper on the board for we have only 15 seconds left.:)) We did all finish the activity but sadly we did not get a high score. Hopefully we can do better next time.

Ma’am Lynnie also asked everyone about our specific topic and thesis statement. I was a bit tensed, because after hearing my classmates topic and thesis statement she would then reply “So what?”, and “What is the relevance of that to us-your readers?”. And luckily, I wasn’t questioned like that. She even told me “Ok. Very good.” :) Thank you ma’am. You make my heart jump!

Thank you God for all the blessings! Have a blessed week everyone. Don’t forget GOD LOVES YOU!
